The Columbia Heights project involved the renovation of the former Watchtower complex at 25-30 Columbia Heights in Brooklyn Heights. Long associated with the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ world headquarters and recognized for the iconic rooftop Watchtower sign, the five interconnected buildings comprise approximately 700,000 square feet.

H&L Ironworks furnished and installed approximately 300 tons of structural steel as part of the redevelopment, along with a substantial miscellaneous metals package spanning all five buildings. The work included new structural and miscellaneous steel framing for elevator shafts and stairwells, terrace supports, new mezzanines, dunnage frames and catwalks supporting new rooftop mechanical equipment.

H&L’s scope also included structural steel for a new three-story addition designed to accommodate retail and outdoor terrace space. Working across five interconnected buildings required extensive coordination throughout the redevelopment, with steel work integrated into both the existing structures and new construction across one of Brooklyn’s most recognizable waterfront properties.
