Five One Five transformed an existing six-story industrial building at 515 West 29th Street into an 11-story luxury condominium building overlooking the High Line in West Chelsea. The adaptive reuse project retained and renovated the existing warehouse structure while adding approximately 14,000 square feet above it, requiring upgrades to the building’s structural and foundation systems.

H&L Ironworks performed structural steel work for the complex vertical expansion, which reconfigured the former industrial property to accommodate the new residential construction above. Its architecture responds directly to its unusual location along a sharp bend in the High Line, with a distinctive custom steel-and-glass façade whose form follows the movement of the elevated park.

The project combines substantial structural alteration of an existing New York City building with new construction above, transforming the former West Chelsea warehouse into a contemporary residential property while retaining the underlying structure that made the vertical expansion possible.
