The St. Luke’s School project involved a two-story extension to the existing private school in Manhattan’s West Village. H&L Ironworks installed approximately 500 tons of structural steel across more than 20,000 square feet of new construction, with the new structure supported by only eight W14x730 columns.

H&L’s miscellaneous metals package included two egress stairs, roof railings and additional miscellaneous steel throughout the building. The completed expansion added nine classrooms, a renovated auditorium and one of the largest middle school gyms in New York City.

H&L returned to St. Luke’s in 2022 for the conversion of approximately 11,000 square feet of rooftop space into an enclosed recreational area. The additional scope included a new guardrail system and a full stainless-steel Webnet enclosure designed to protect the rooftop play area while maintaining an open environment.
